History
Supporting independent entrepreneurs in Poland has always been at the heart of the Eurocash Group's operations. In 2003, Luis Amaral, the General Director of Jeronimo Martins in Poland until 1999, decided to perform a managerial buyout of the Eurocash Cash&Carry chain from its then owner - Jeronimo Martins - together with a group of associates.
The team noticed that as the market moves towards large-format stores, including discount stores, local store owners are facing significant difficulties. To ensure their competitiveness versus the largest chains, Eurocash improved the attractiveness of its wholesale offer and developed new models of co-operation with store owners, believing that independent trade is the future of the Polish market.
The adopted strategy soon began to give measurable benefits - already in 2004, the company recorded a profit and in April 2005, it made its début on the Warsaw Stock Exchange as Eurocash S.A. The company enjoyed stable and sustainable development in the following years.
In January 2022, Paweł Surówka was appointed the President of Eurocash Group's Management Board. The former President, Luis Amaral, became the Chairman of the company's Supervisory Board. In August of the same year, the new Eurocash Grup Strategy for 2023-2025 was announced.
